Our Story

Cooking from the pond house.

The Walsh Kitchen began the way most good kitchens do: with too much food and too many people to feed. What started as handwritten cards on the counter in Sarasota has grown into a library of 10,200 tested recipes, a members' collection of our best work, and a small store of the 20 tools we actually reach for.

We cook seasonally, lean on the garden out back, and write every recipe to be made in a real home kitchen — crowded counter, imperfect oven, and all. Nothing here is precious. If a step is fussy without being worth it, we cut it.

The people in the kitchen

David Austin Walsh, Founder & Head Cook

David Austin Walsh

Founder & Head Cook

David started The Walsh Kitchen at the pond house in Sarasota after two decades cooking for family, friends, and anyone who wandered by at dinnertime. He writes most of the recipes and does most of the dishes.

Marisol Reyes, Culinary Director

Marisol Reyes

Culinary Director

Marisol trained in professional kitchens across the Gulf Coast before joining the pond house. She keeps our recipes honest, tested, and genuinely repeatable at home.

Theo Lindqvist, Head Baker

Theo Lindqvist

Head Baker

Theo runs the bread and pastry side of the kitchen, from the sourdough starter that predates the website to the celebration cakes that end most of our gatherings.

Priya Nair, Recipe Editor

Priya Nair

Recipe Editor

Priya makes sure every recipe reads as clearly as it cooks. If a step is confusing, she has already rewritten it three times before you see it.

Jonah Bell, Kitchen Gardener

Jonah Bell

Kitchen Gardener

Jonah tends the raised beds and the herb garden that decide much of what we cook. Most of our seasonal notes start with him.
